Ramona Brandes

I was born and raised in New York -- Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn -- to be exact. I moved
to Southern California in 1970. After graduating from college, I worked as a court
reporter and paralegal in Century City for a time, before moving to beautiful
Thousand Oaks.
I moved to Thousand Oaks when it was a very small community. Over the past many years Thousand
Oaks has grown rapidly and reached a population of over 117,000. The number of children
enrolled in our public schools alone is presently over 19,000.
Having school-aged children myself, it became clear to me there was a need for
children's theater here in our local area -- a place where children could go on a field
trip and experience curriculum-related as well as educational entertainment.
In 1994 after the completion of the beautiful Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, the stage
was set for what proved to be the perfect venue for our children to experience live
theatrical performances. These performances have helped to create an important educational
medium with the use of language, sight and sound.
When I think back about my days in elementary school, one of the things I remember most
was the field trips we took. That was my first experience at the theater. I have a great
appreciation for the arts and hope that by providing these programs to your children and
students, they too, will develop an interest in the arts that will stay with them.
Education in the arts is a key factor in helping children to be well-rounded and
well-educated. It is out of this appreciation that Community Educational Entertainment was
developed. CEE is dedicated to providing children with a way to integrate the theatrical
experience into classroom instruction as well as for enjoyment in life.
Thanks to your enthusiasm and continued support, CEE is proud to present its
new calendar. I hope that you will be able to join us this year.
Your questions and comments are very important to me. Please
