New Shanghai Circus:
Incredible !Acrobats
of China
Since 1984 the Incredible! Acrobats of China have been
amazing and thrilling audiences across North America
and around the world. In every theater, theme park, and state fair
where they have appeared the fully produced stage
show has set records for attendance, publicity, and enthusiastic public
response. Recent world tour performances include
national touring engagements throughout the Pacific islands, across New
Zealand and nationwide in Australia.
In
1999 ISA’s Chinese acrobats appeared on Broadway. The sell-out engagement of
the Incredible! Acrobats of China at the New
Victory Theater on 42 Street at Times Square was the first time these
remarkable Asian entertainers appeared in
America’s most famous theater district. In 2001 the Incredible! Acrobats of
China achieved another outstanding “first” with
the premier television broadcast of its show live from Branson,
Missouri, to a nationwide network audience on PBS. Then again in for
the 2002/2003 season the show repeated its
appearance at the New Victory Theater with a second sell-out series of
limited-engagement performances which once more
received an outstanding review in The New York
Times.
ISA’s expertise is in the import and export of family
entertainment with Asia. We are the only company that
sends representatives to the PRC each year to seek the top acts . . .
the best of the best. In selecting the
entertainers to perform in our productions, we have visited more cities in
China and auditioned more acrobatic troupes, dance
groups, and ballet companies than anyone outside the Orient. We have engaged
far more Chinese performers for shows outside the
PRC than anyone else . . . and in the process, we have become the
largest exporter of talent from of China in the world.
From the thousands of performers in that vast country, ISA
brings only the best of the best, artists who have
trained their entire lives to present their seven or eight-minute segment of
each show. Each year we engage many entertainers
and acts that are entirely new, having never been seen outside China, even
on television. It is the uniqueness of the acts
and the almost unbelievable skill of the performers that is so impressive to
audiences around the world and explains the great impact of these
powerful entertainers.
For
the past ten years the Incredible! Acrobats of China has been presented by
the international award winning performers of the
New Shanghai Circus of Shanghai, the People’s
Republic of China. ISA is pleased to have entered
a long term relationship with the New Shanghai Circus in the presentation of
its resident production in America. The show is
now performed as a season-long engagement (May-November) on a multi-year
contract at the lavish MGH Performing Arts Center
in Branson, Missouri. Performed twice a day, the show takes full
advantage of the comprehensive and dramatic theatrical and lighting
effects possible with a sit-down performance. The
two-hour show in Branson is the largest and most fully produced grand
theater production of Chinese acrobatics anywhere
in the world outside of China.
The ‘05/’06 production of the show will feature
spectacular aerial entertainers from Nanchong Province. These
phenomenal new acts have toured extensively throughout Europe as well
as won numerous awards. Stunning audiences with
their stupendous skill, these acts will be a highlight of the ‘05/’06 season
touring production.
THE NEW YORK TIMES exclaimed about the production stating
that it featured “New Acts of Derring-Do. Feats of
circus art that reach literally breathtaking heights of skill.”
The LOS ANGELES TIMES said the production was filled with
“Show-stopping rarities of daunting difficulty.
”The SARASOTA HERALD-TRIBUNE called the show “an awesome evening of
entertainment . . . a fascinating glimpse of
movement from another culture.”
And the KANSAS CITY STAR said, “the talents of the
Shanghai acrobats are beyond compare . . . watch these acrobats
and be stunned and thrilled.”
THE HONOLULU ADVERTISER said, “Prepared to be wowed . . .
Audience head over heels in love with this
troupe.”
